In 2013, students of Kaligi Ranganathan Secondary School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, felt that the cleaning staff of the school was not being respected enough. They conducted regular sessions to teach reading and writing. Two of the staff members went on to earn college degrees. Students procured them uniforms and ate lunch with them, and home visits were also organised to learn more about the support staff and their lives.
